My only complaint has been what a closed platform it is.  Reading books is awesome, but there&#8217;s so much potential in this little device&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Just today I learned that the Amazon is accepting applications for <a href=\"https:\/\/kindlepublishing.amazon.com\/gp\/vendor\/sign-in?ie=UTF8&amp;originatingURI=%2Fgp%2Fvendor%2Fmembers%2Fkindlepubs%2Fkdk%2Fhome\">KDK Developers<\/a>.  What&#8217;s that?  We can write custom applications for the Kindle?  Heck yes!  Where&#8217;s my Frotz port?<\/p>\n<p>Intial reactions on Kindle <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crunchgear.com\/2010\/08\/04\/the-first-kindle-kdk-based-programs-trickle-out\/\">Active<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/SCRABBLE\/dp\/B003P2QCE8\">Content<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/ireaderreview.com\/2010\/02\/10\/quick-thoughts-on-the-kdk-beta\/\">KDK itself<\/a> seem to be very positive.  It uses Java.  Everyone knows Java.
